WEC Duplex

Interior fit outs are tedious jobs for architects. The pressure on the designer is increased when volatile parameters are introduced, like items which could be done after certain legal processes are concluded. This became the heart of this 350sqm residential duplex fit out.

The double height space of this duplex has a magnetic and guiding main element, the wood volume at its center.

It represents the gained internal space, it constitutes the main entrance lobby, it serves to tone down the circulation connecting the reception to the service areas, it houses the almost disconnected stairs linking to the top private level, and it envelopes the optimized walk in dressing of the master bedroom.

Its wooden shell boldly states its foreign nature, being different and physically separated from the rest of the neutrally finished surfaces.

Finely proportioned functional and illuminated spaces (3BR suites + family room + kitchen + pantry/services) surround this wood box.
